June 28, 2013 Climate Control Needs a Stronger OffenseOn June 25, President Obama laid out a monumental plan to curb climate change. New policies will seek to reduce carbon emissions, double down on clean energy (wind and solar), and improve energy efficiency — all great goals. As a result, clean energy will be cheaper, and carbon-based energy will be more expensive. But these policies still fall short of what scientists and number crunchers tell us we need to do in order to avoid a climate crisis; we're just playing defense, in other words. The White House's new plan is an OK start, but in order to make a real, lasting impact, they'll need to go much, much further.
