August 02, 2013 Yes, You Do Need a Social Media PresenceConversations about your company, some good and some bad, are happening on social media channels. This is a given. So why are there so many social-media holdouts out there? It's baffling. Social media isn't an alternate realm than can be ignored; it's a place where opinions and criticisms are shared, and if a business doesn't participate — or pay attention, at the very least — it's letting others define its reputation. This applies to businesses of every size, from mom-and-pop shops to Fortune 500 companies. Embrace social media, already. If not, you run the risk of looking less credible, and less responsive, than your competitors. SOURCE: The Perils of Being a Social Media Holdout by Clara Shih and Lisa Shalett |
