August 27, 2013 Confident Men Can Make For Lousy LeadersA leader's personality plays a big part in getting hired. Extremely confident, charming, and charismatic? You've got the job. It's one of the reasons there are more men than women in the leadership ranks; the traits we consider essential to leadership just so happen to be more male-centric. But confidence — or maybe hubris is a better word — does not equal competence. In fact, an abundance of confidence can turn quickly to arrogance, manipulation, and risk-taking — all characteristics of incompetent leaders. It's ironic, isn't it?
