The Best Place to Be a Working Woman Is Iceland


Good news from the World Economic Forum: the fight for gender equality across the globe seems to be paying off. Out of the 100 countries the organization has been tracking since 2006, 86% showed improvement, and are moving — albeit slowly, in some cases — toward parity. But there's still a lot of work to do. In order to keep the momentum going, the rest of the world should look to its Nordic counterparts for inspiration: Iceland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Their progressive policies on childcare and parental leave are the main reason why they're leading the charge — and distancing themselves from the pack.
