Use Positive Language to Fuel Creativity

We've tried that already. It will never work. We use this type of language all the time, and it can have negative consequences for our teams. We'd be better served if we took a page out of IDEO's playbook. Instead of saying, "we can't," it's more beneficial to ask, "how might we…?" These three simple words can make a big difference. 'How' suggests possibility and forces people to keep an open mind ; 'Might' tempers expectations; and 'we' reminds everyone that idea generation and execution require group effort.
