July 02, 2013 Giving Gifts Makes You HappierDeep down, we all know that TVs, cars, and houses won't make us happy. Even higher salaries. But, in some instances, money can make us happier. There's one important caveat, however: in order to feel a jolt of happiness, you need to spend the money on other people. In fact, spending as little as $5 can do the trick. Google knows this full well, and has set up a program that encourages its employees to nominate each other for a $150 bonus. That may seem like small change, but the emotional payoff of giving a gift (and receiving one, of course) far exceeds its monetary value.
