Bureaucracy's Not Such a Bad Thing

Bureaucracy — it's the word we use to describe what's bad about big companies: the red tape, the draconian policies, and the glacial pace, all of which can be frustrating for employees and customers alike. But sometimes our anger is misplaced. Bureaucracy, after all, is merely a way to standardize procedures and policies — which is arguably a good (and completely necessary) thing. So the real culprit isn't bureaucracy itself, but rather a lack of accountability in the system — for example, a delay in payment that really makes our blood boil. So maybe we should stop giving bureaucracy such a bad name?
