In Praise of Doing Nothing


The quick pace of our work lives is not conducive to creativity. To be creative, we need ample head space, and we need to work at a slow and deliberate rhythm. But it's hard to achieve these things when we're always "on." That's why it's important to take a mental break from work — that is, to do absolutely nothing. The brain is a muscle that needs care. If you rest it, your creativity should be restored.
