The (Legal) Marijuana Industry Is One to Watch

U.S. medical marijuana sales are predicted to reach $1.5 billion in 2013, and they could surpass $6 billion by 2018 — and that's an ultra-conservative estimate. The business potential is enormous. Sure, there are still a lot of issues — pot is still illegal on the federal level, for example — but there is reason to be optimistic about the industry's growth potential. More and more politicians are looking to legalize medical marijuana, and the states that have already done so may expand their laws to include non-medical use. And Americans seem to want it. In a 2013 Gallup poll, 58% of respondents supported legalization for adult use, up from 12% in 1969.
