In Praise of Netflix's Binge-Watching Strategy

Netflix is a case study in how to change and adapt to customer behavior. Take the recent emergence of binge viewers, i.e. the increasing number of us who consume entire seasons of TV shows in a span of days. Netflix was out ahead of the trend, and now it's doubling down on its strategy. The company is producing and financing its own shows — House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, for example — and it makes every episode available right away for our streaming pleasure. And you can be sure that binge-watching will drive all the company's decisions going forward. The result? Even more committed customers.
