Beware of Gossip

From Shakespeare to self-help manuals, the pernicious effects of gossip have been well documented. Gossip can spread fast, we've been told, truth be damned. Our brains just aren't equipped with the hardware to adequately separate fact from fiction. When we encounter new information, in fact — any information — our gut response is to believe it. And that's why gossip can be dangerous. However innocent it may be, it can alter minds and shift realities without us even knowing. Be careful.
