Entrepreneurs Deserve More Respect

In some circles — the Oval Office included — entrepreneurship is considered to be the "engine of the economy." But do many of us actually hold entrepreneurs in such high regard? Probably not. Why? It's a numbers game. Since more than 75% of start-ups fail, it's hard to sing the praises of the entrepreneurial spirit; instead, we bestow prestige on salaried, promotion-happy careerists — "cubicle capitalists," as it were. But remember: every company, even Fortune 500 behemoths, started small. So we should praise and support entrepreneurs who challenge the status quo. Failure, risk, and uncertainty be damned.
